Sifu Ron Wheeler Bio

Ron Wheeler's Bio Ron has been involved in the martial arts for over two decades. Ron first began training in what he called Back Alley kung fu in 1977 when he would learn techniques from his friends who studied at the various martial arts schools in the Washington, D.C. area. He then began his formal training in Jow Ga kung fu in 1981 and completed his studies under Sifu Raymond Wong in 1990. Ron’s training and commitment to the martial arts and to the Jow Ga system has enabled him to be a two time National Champion and three times Regional Champion sanctioned by the United States of America Wu Shu/Kung Fu Federation. The 2003 Male Competitor of the Year under the United States Chinese Kuoshu Federation, ranked 3rd in Men's Light Weight fighting under the United States of America Wu Shu/Kung Fu Federation in 1998. Member of the 2004 United States Traditional Wu Shu Team where he competed in the 1st Traditional Wu Shu Festival and Championship held in Zhen Zhou, PRC where he gave Gold Medal performances in the categories of Southern Fist Form and Long Pole. In 1995 Ron was the first Jow Ga stylist in North America to put out a series of instructional Video/DVDs on the Jow Ga system through ESPY-TV in New York. He was also a cast member of the martial arts stage production "Voice of the Dragon" produced by Big Red Media and backed by Columbia Artist in 2003. Ron is also an instructor of Western Boxing and Chinese San Shou and is a faculty member of the Department of Exercise Science at George Washington University. Ron uses his passion, skill, and experience, along with street smarts to teach and guide his students to the next level.
