Northern Shaolin Long Fist

Traditional Broadsword “Ba Qua Dao”

In this Seminar Sifu Graham is teaching a flashy but practical Traditional Broadsword form, complete with techniques in cutting and explanation of each and every movement and how it applies to “real fencing.” It will only take you a couple of minutes to realize that traditional is the effective form of Kung Fu and when done correctly an awesome performance as well.

For those of you familiar with Chinese Broadsword “Dao.” The flashiest techniques are usually performed by Contemporary Shaolin Monks and Modern Wushu. Although these performances are fun to watch, have you ever wondered what’s the basis for these movements and where is the real technique (practical fencing and cutting)? The answer is a simple one. Modern Shaolin and Wushu is entirely based on Traditional Kung Fu, mostly Northern Shaolin Long Fist. Acrobatics flimsy swords and eye pleasing chorography have replaced the actual cutting and fencing.
