ICMAC WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT REPORT- NOV. 4-5, 2011

On its 3rd edition, the ICMAC World Championship held at the Dolphin Resort at Walt Disney World®, in Orlando, Florida had the largest turnout so far and we are making plans to insure that the event continues to gain both in prestige and participation.

We had great support with large teams coming from Mexico, Italy and Azerbaijan and several other countries were represented.

A view of the competition area for the 2011 ICMAC World Championship

We hosted a total of 14 tournaments this year; this is quite a feat for an organization which is only on its third year. Our focus now is to develop the circuit overseas. Next year we are planning for events in Canada, Europe and Brazil while also sanctioning more events in North America.

Another view of the competition

We will be making several important changes to how athletes qualify for the ICMAC North American Championship. and will separate this from the Top Ten Rating. We realize that many of the top competitors are not able to participate in multiple events and since we want the very best to vie for Titles we have decided to make the following changes:

  1. Competitors will be seeded according to their Top Ten placement at any ICMAC tournament held in 2012 prior to the Finals. The higher the placement, the better the seeding.
  2. We will hold preliminaries on Friday evening for competitors who have not had the chance to qualify; these will be seeded according to their scores but may not be seeded higher than competitors who have already qualified.

The above changes will be further clarified in the rules section of this website. We feel strongly that this will bring fairness and add prestige to the competition. We also feel that July is the perfect month for hosting such an event; it is easier for people, and especially families, to take vacations then and thus make plans to attend the event.

One more photo of the competition

Based on feedback from coaches and athletes we have decide to run the ICMAC World Championship on alternate years; the next event will run in July of 2013 and every two years thereafter. The World Championship will be combined with the North American Finals and will run as a separate event. Competition will span over 3 days with preliminaries starting on Friday and concluding with closing ceremonies on Sunday.

We want to express our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to all the athletes, judges, volunteers, parents and spectators who have supported our events throughout the year and finish with the following message:

2012 is around the corner, let's make it our best year yet!
