Master Chienli Wu Biography

Master Chienli Wu has been teaching Chinese Martial Arts for more than 30 years. She is the only female disciple of Grandmaster Wei Hsiao Tang of 8 Step Praying Mantis and student of Grandmaster Dao Kwei Lee, the only Chin Wu Grandmaster in Taiwan. In Houston, she has been teaching Yang’s Style Tai Chi and weapons since 1986 and has organized Chinese Martial Arts Exhibitions for more than 20 years. Dedicated to passing down traditional Chinese Martial Arts, Master Wu has won numerous titles and awards in Taiwan before moving to the US in 1979. She has taught students in Taiwan, Florida, and later in Houston where she continues to teach Chinese Martial Arts today.  

8 Step Praying Mantis is the only Northern Praying Mantis spread out from Taiwan, it combines Northern Praying Mantis , Hsing Yi, Bagua and Tong Bei, Grand master Wei brought it from China and taught in Taiwan till when he passed away in 1984. Master Wu is one of his outstanding students.
