Mimi Chan

Mimi Chan began her martial arts training under her father, Grandmaster Chan Pui, at the age of 3. She cemented her place in animation history as the life model and martial arts video reference for Disney’s animated classic, Mulan (1998).
She paid tribute to her father in her award-winning documentary, Pui Chan: Kung Fu Pioneer. She was Inside Kung Fu Magazine’s “Woman of the Year,” in 2000, hosts the Sifu Mimi Chan Show Podcast, and is an advocate for social justice. As director for Make Us Visible Florida, she pioneered legislation to include AAPI history in education in Florida to prevent anti-Asian hate. Mimi Chan is dedicated to the preservation of Wah Lum’s traditional martial arts system and teaches at the Wah Lum Temple in Orlando.
